Motor wire harness, 6 wires, 1,2,3,4,5 and 6. 1,3,4 and 6 will be connected to A,A-,B and B- on driver board for each motor.

22 AWG motor cable, 4 conductor.

DSC_0310.jpg

Prepare the motor cable with a wire stripper.

DSC_0311.jpg

One side of the motor cable will be connected to driver's motor terminal. Let's connect it to X Axis for our demo.

DSC_0312.jpg

Heat shrink tubes included in the package are for your convenience. Also a small section of solder.

DSC_0314.jpg

Put the heat shrink tubes on the wires as shown. Pay attention to the order, 1,3,4,6 from the motor harness, will be connected to 1,2,3,4 of motor cable.

DSC_0317.jpg

Wires have been soldered together.

DSC_0318.jpg

Use heat shrink tubes to cover the exposed wires.

DSC_0319.jpg

Using a heat gun shrink the tubes on those four wires.

DSC_0320.jpg

Now ready to move the big heat shrink tube.

DSC_0321.jpg

You can put all 6 wires from the motor harness into the big tube.

DSC_0322.jpg

All set after using the heat gun shrink the tube.

DSC_0323.jpg

Connect the wiring harness to the motor.

DSC_0324.jpg

Other side of the cable is connected to the driver board. Make sure all connections are secure.

DSC_0325.jpg

Now let's start preparing the power supply.

DSC_0326.jpg

Cut off the connectors come with the wire, we don't need them.

DSC_0327.jpg

Strip the wire end with the stripper.

DSC_0328.jpg

Two power cable wires are connected to L and N terminal on the power supply. If the plug is polarized (one prong is wider than the other) Connect the smaller of the two to the L(Live) Terminal and the Wide one to the N(Neutral).

In practice it would be safer to use a full 3-prong plug, a good source of these are extra computer cables. The wiring by standard should be as follows: Black=L, White=N, Green=GND(the symbol with bars on it.)

DSC_0329.jpg

Connect the power supply to 110V outlet.

DSC_0334.jpg

Check with a multimeter, make sure DC output reads 12V. You can adjust the output voltage by turn the adjustment screw on the right hand side.

DSC_0335.jpg

ATTENTION:Now, disconnect it from the outlet.

DSC_0337.jpg

Now, let's connect the DC power supply to the driver board. We are using a red wire (16 AWG) as positive and black one as negtive.

DSC_0339.jpg

This picture shows the power connection to the driver board. Double check, you are connect them exactly as shown!!

DSC_0342.jpg

Connect the parallel printer cable to the board.

DSC_0343.jpg

New desktop computers might not have this 25pin parallel connector any more. If that is the case, you will either find an old computer or a PCI adapter.

Now everything got wired up and ready to run. We will work on the software part.
